Sexual violence is a reality, even at the University of Bern. The university-wide SUB survey of 2020 revealed that 8% of students have already felt sexually harassed. Sexual harassment - a specific form of sexualized violence - often occurs verbally by fellow students in the university context.
The SUB is part of the campaign "16 Days against Violence against Women". The 16 action days focusing on sexualised violence will take place from 25 November to 10 December 2021. You can find an overview of all events here.
In this workshop, students learn to address boundary violations - as a person affected, an observer and a perpetrator. The four components of nonviolent communication are used for this purpose. Students practise the following situations:

Sexualised violence is widespread in institutions of Higher Education. The academic environment is characterized by hierarchies and power structures which make the situation even harder for survivors. We will discuss ways to stop sexualised violence in universities and to support survivors.
